Houghton Library, Harvard Yard, Cambridge, Massachusetts


A program of talks, readings, and a walk (past Lowell House down to the Charles River, weather permitting) relating to Bayliss's life and work. Included are a morning coffee/tea break and a box lunch. Some of Bayliss's papers from Houghton's collection will be on display. Attendees will receive a small program booklet that includes previously unpublished material. 

Please arrive at 10:00 to check in and view the Bayliss materials on display as well as the current Houghton Library exhibit. All Houghton Library visitors are required to show ID and proof of Covid vaccination and booster. Masks are optional.

Following the Houghton Library program, which will end at 3 PM, attendees are welcome to join a guided walk through the Cambridge Common and up Concord Avenue. A public bus is available for return to Harvard Square.

Registration fee will be refunded upon request if written notice of cancellation is received by June 9. 

Directions: 

Street parking in Harvard Square is very limited. There are several parking garages nearby. Public transportation and car pools are recommended. 

Houghton Library is located on the south side of  Harvard Yard, not far from the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Quincy Street. If you enter the Yard from the gate on Quincy Street near Mass. Ave., Lamont Library is on the left and Houghton is just past. From other gates, Houghton is next door to (east of) Widener Library.
